My piece depicts Melanie Martinez with a tear going down her check. The element I used that's the most obvious is value. The principle that's most obvious is contrast.
When I created this piece I used pencil. When I was working on it I just went and shaded some parts and gave it like a shadow, then I smudged the pencil to make it look smooth and get all the lines out of it. When I worked on the hair it was the hardest and I gently smudged some giving it some "color" then I made one side look darker than the other because she has her hair split with 2 different colors.
My inspiration for this piece is Melanie Martinez because I love her so much and she is one of my favorite female singers. I tried to make her look sad because she is known for some songs are know for being kind of sad.
My goal is to get better as an artist. In my opinion it didn't help me much it kind of made me stress out, portraits are not my favorite thing and defiantly not my type of style.
I learned how to kind of do hair not much of anything else. my final piece is sort of what I wanted but at the same time not so much I am not good and realistic portraits of people and it is my least favorite style.
My sculpture is of the Mad Hatters hat from the movie Alice in Wonderland it is a small mixture of my own style and of the new and old Mad Hatter. The thing that catches peoples eye in my opinion is the peacock feather because it is so bright and big, Also the ribbon since it is also bright.
In this piece I used 2 pieces of cardboard cut into circles and a old lampshade and glued the cardboard to both ends of the lampshade. I then used paper mache and covered the whole thing then panted that a rustish kind of color and put lace that I dyed black around the whole thing and added the ribbon, feather, hat pins and peacock feather.
My inspiration for this piece is because I love Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter is one of my favorites and I love the hat. I thought it would be fun and really cool to recreate the hat and add a little bit of a twist (I improvised a few things since I didn't have it and wanted to make it different).
My goal with this piece was to recreate the hat and make it look close to his hat actual hat.
Over all I think my piece turned out as I wanted it to, it looks just like the his hat.
Title: Sally's hand
My piece depicts Sally from one of Tim Burtons most popular movie Nightmare Before Christmas, it is of her hand reaching up from the bottom of the paper close up. The most element I used is color, I used a light blue and a warm and cold gray for her arm color, then I used black for her stiches and a shadow.
This piece was made by Prisma colored pencils, when I was doing this piece I used multiple layers, at least tried to, first I did my highlights in the wrist and fingers with a white then I added the shadow with a black and then went lightly with a warm and cool gray then went over it with some light blue and tried to burnish it last.
My inspiration for this piece was I love Nightmare Before Christmas and I wanted to do Sally or Jack's hand but I just decided to use Sally's hand because she has skin.
My goal with this piece was to make it look realistic but also not realistic Prisma's are pretty easy to use but takes a few layers and burnishing them to get them to look realistic so that was my biggest challenge to get the piece burnished without the paper detreating.
Over all this piece is in my opinion not my favorite and did not come out how I wanted it to, I feel like I could have made it look better and more like her hand. I would try again but try something different and take my time and maybe do something new and try and make it look better.
